Cazuela’s Mexican Grill & Brewery Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The service is HORRIBLE!!! The food is mediocre. I hope they read this and PLEASE make changes!!!!!! I do my best to support locally owned vs the abundance of commercial options, but PLEASE take some accountability and turn things around. I was a frequent customer when it was in the little shack and they were almost always super busy and even with one waiter (who was also the cashier) and one cook they always took care of their customers and food was delicious! Ever since they moved I keep trying....relentlessly.... I have been hopeful that they would turn things around. Sadly, they have only got worse. I have been putting off writing a review bc I was hopeful, however each experience is worse than the last. I hope that this review might help them. Each time I visit there are very few tables and at least 3-4 people working out on the floor. The dining areas are largely spread out. Service has been barely there every time. Once seated, it generally takes several minutes for a server to appear then after ordering drinks it takes even longer for the drinks to reappear. It is somewhat frustrating that servers do not makes suggestions, are usually not knowledgeable to answer questions about the menu etc, however that could all be overlooked if they were at least attentive or responsive. Because the dining area is so spread out it is impossible to ignore that servers AND managers are more concerned about visiting with each other more than about making money or building up clientele. It's clear customers are the last thing they're concerned about at Cazuelas. Even when I've gone for just drinks with friends, pint and margarita glasses sit empty for quite awhile before someone decides to leave the table and go up to the server or an employee (servers tend to disappear) and ask for help. I have spent more than a dozen years in the restaurant industry and have worked at a variety of places. It's impossible to ignore the lack of effort or concern at Cazuelas. Each time I go it's several months before I can convince myself to go back and try again bc at first thought I always remember the horrendous service. However I usually am optimistic that it's improved over time. Then I go and leave disgusted again and again. The servers have always been one of two types....completely brand new to serving and super friendly, but super clueless missing what is needed. OR the saddest kind in my opinion, completely high and spun out. And I'm not talking stoner high...the walking aimlessly in circles, shifty eyes, sniffing constantly, going in and out of the bathroom on the patio blatantly obvious to get high. So service is crappy and I leave disgusted having that right in front of my face. I usually feel so sorry for the kids working there sniffing and smoking their life away that it's hard to even be upset about service. I'm just disgusted on every level.

Service was terrible to tonight. I guess they have a new system and it bugged out. We had a large party (12) and from drinks to sopopias something was wrong at each course. Most of the food got good reviews, the shrimp dishes were good as we're the traditional dishes with a couple that were bland or came out cold. Not certain it's worth coming back to...

My late afternoon lunch with my son and wife did live up to the hype. We had dined here a couple years ago and things have really changed. We sat in the tap room and other than the AC blowing to hard, the space is a nice area with a view of the Sandias. Patio seating is an option but not when it is drizzling and you have a toddler. The chips and salsa starter is some of the best salsa in Rio Rancho. I ordered the combination plate #2, my wife ordered a stuffed sopapilla and son had a bean cheese burrito. All were more than filling servings. 2 of 4 needed take put boxes. I had their award winning stout, the name is escaping me at the moment, but it is one of the best craft stouts in New Mexico. We will definitely be back for dinner. Make this a destination for those of you in ABQ that dread making the trek across. They offer .50 cent wings during their Happy Hour from 2-6. We did not try the pizza they offer either. The perridillas looked and smelled great, looking forward to trying those on a future visit.

I love to support Local businesses - take this as constructive criticism - Bad customer service - food is tasteless. I used to love this local fave. I will not return for awhile - hopefully things will reorganize and rise to what they used to be.

Pretty bad. There is so much good food to be eaten in ABQ, that there's no reason to waste your money here. Hair in our salsa , salsa is runny, tacos measley and chips are strange. Oatmeal stout beer was good.

What a niche! Mexican food (not New Mexican), not pub food (typical pizza, nachos, fish and chips) and they brew their own beer. We had a flight and I enjoyed them all, but was partial to the Inebriator. The service was excellent and made or decision to take a chance that much more enjoyable. They make their own tortillas, too. Come on, you have to try this place! I've missed home (Albuquerque) and this is just one more reason I'm sad to be headed back to Houston. We've been to over 120 breweries in 17 states, I think we've figured out a thing or two about good beer.

When I first pulled up I asked my wife if this place is ghetto (run down hole in the wall), she said no you will like it. So I took her word for it, we came inside and yes I felt wierd but then I saw the inside. Wow! Nice place sure couldn't tell from the outside. Well we sit down and the waitress comes and take our drink order. I wanted an appetizer since it was happy hour but she didn't ask. Our drinks come out and we ordered, I still ordered our appetizer and our meal. I ordered fried octopus and my wife got fajitas. Well my appetizer arrived 15min later with our food. We got the guacamole with camaron and pulpo (shrimp and octopus). That out of our whole meal was the only good thing about this place. My octopus was full of some nasty tasting grease and the octopus it's self had no flavor I didn't even finish it. My wife the fajita plate was decent, no good flavor just blah. Well since I didn't eat my food I ordered a tamale plate to take home. That came out in 5 min (wierd like it was already made). Now our waitress was horrible I got more service from the young man with tattoos, very nice guy. Happens to be that the owner walked in with his party. He sat down and ordered food with his people. Most owners will walk the restaurant and make sure there guests are doing ok. Well he didn't he sat down and then i hear him call over the waiter that had been helping us the young man. I hear him get mad at him because the food he brought out was wrong. The waiter explained that he wrote it down right on the ticket. A few min later the head waiter came out and showed the owner that he did write it down right. I have been in management for over 16 years and you don't scold your employees in front of the customers or other employees. That turned me off totally since the food almost did. Well I get home and eat my Tamale plate. I asked for red on the side, well there is no red at all. I try the tamales and wow, super dry like they been microwaved. Not good at all. Will we be back? If it's up to me I will not go back again. The prices are high and the food is not that good. Oh and we had ordered sopillias my wife loves sopillas. Well they didn't come out till we were done with our food, we would have asked the waitress about it but she wasn't around. Everyone had chips and salsa, not us!

Not too bad Cazuelas, you've made a few more fans! The Menudo is one of the best Menudo's in town. I'm from Mexico and having homemade Menudo was a staple in our family. The chile they use has to be Hatch chile, it's oh so good and not too spicy! It's an expertly done broth with the meat just perfectly cooked and of course, homemade corn tortillas, yum! I would go there again just for the opportunity to dive into a large bowl! That's right, go large or go home!

Call in Order.... Breakfast Burrito------Bacon, egg, cheese, hash browns and red chilli (hot). The chilli has really good flavor but its never hot (spicy) I always ask for extra cheese but never get. The tortilla is always excellent there. I will be back!!!!

Good service, good beer, and good food! We loved the oatmeal stout and Chris was an excellent server.

First thing first, the place is the realest! (Cheesy? I know, I do that sometimes) Honestly though, we've been here a handful of times and we've never been disappointed. The beer...phenomenal. The Oatmeal Stout is a World Beer Cup winner. The bar doesn't have the best acoustics but the food makes up for it, big time! I always get the Molcajete, which translates into a lava rock masher-upper thing that containst steak, shrimp, bell peppers, onions, and cheese combined together to form magic. It comes with a side of rice & THE BEST CORN TORTILLAS IN TOWN! The bf ordered (& usually orders) the pardilladas....which is a cast iron mini grill of meat & veggies...the side contains beans, rice& those glorious corn tortillas. Another great dish is the guacamole with pulpo & camarones (aka squid & shrimp). We enjoy squeezing some lemon & adding a little hot sauce. We're always happy having a meal here. The service is typically friendly and attentive. I think you'll be happy dining here. Buen provecho!

Stop by for late lunch, we ordered flautas plate, taco plate and menudo... all pretty decent. Flautas came w rice & beans, side of guacamole, which I had to doctor w lemon juice, tomato, salt & pepper. They did not have cheese or lettuce, uh that's a given in CA, but they were crispy, so that's a plus. The rice was a little soggy, but added salsa & was better. The beans tasted burned, yuck, didn't eat them. The taco plate was pretty much the same. The menudo was tasty & hot, but had to ask for all the fixings, oregano, onions & cilantro, again a given in CA. Total bill, including 1 drink came to $33, not bad. We probably won't go again, but if you decide the go, Grayson is a good waiter (1 star is for him) came and checked on us, several times during our short time there.

We drove to try this place even with the low reviews and we were not disappointed at all. Staff was attentive and food was plentiful and good tasting. The bad we went w two youngens and we were sat in the bar area and it was a little noisy with the soccer game on, but that was ok, everyone was mellow so I was ok with it. We would definitely be back. Breakfast Plate of chicharrones MMMM GOOD

We are here on a Friday night. There was a small crowd of about ten tables and I counted 8 people on staff. The waiter didn't come to our table for 15 minutes, then when he came we got hear about all his personal problems being the reason he couldn't wait on us sooner. He yelled at the other staffers 4 times right in front of us. The food was terrible. I ordered Parradillas and the meat tasted like it was spoiled or freezer burned the green chile tasted like flour. Our waiter walked by us several times but we never got a refill of our drinks. I told the busser about my food and she just took it away. The owners of this place have given up. I like to support local businesses but these guys don't have any passion for their business and I won't support that. BOTTOM LINE: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY.

We ate here Saturday night for "date night". All five of us started with the beer sampler (side note: as they run out of small glasses for the sampler, the servings get larger and larger!) The selection of beers was good and for $8 I certainly can't complain. We were served a very small bowl of salsa and a half basket of chips, seconds cost $1.99. For dinner, I chose the Fajita Plate. It was a fair portion of beef and veggies, sour cream and guacamole. However they only provided one, very large, tortilla and any additional tortillas was an extra charge. I thought that was a little strange and made it hard to eat. The side of rice was cold and inedible. Overall, it was on okay experience. I will probably return for beer but not the food.

Cazuelas was out fav dive, when it was a dive 7 years ago. Now it's moved to an expansive place still serving great food and doing a microbrew. Highly recommended

While visiting from Chicago for a family reunion in Rio Rancho, we ate here on a Thursday night. Cousins recommend. Close to our hotel on the highway. We had a large group with the potential to get bigger. We walked in and were greeted by a man who we later learned was manager...possibly owner...and greeted with joy and excitement! We explained our group dynamics and without a concern greeter opened a closed section to us. We had only one server. Her name escapes me, but she did real well considering the craziness! We ordered drinks...she recommended beers for some. Not a full bar but had margaritas and such...which is what most ordered. The beer recommended was a hit with the beer drinker and the margaritas were big and yummy! She recommended some appetizers. Also, yummy and hot and big! People kept coming and she rolled with it! We ordered food. Came in large portions and was hot and yummy. We were a large happy group not looking for miracles ...considering we just kept getting bigger.. The manager was a very personable man who seemed to genuinely care about our experience! Our server was friendly and helpful. Even showing me the beautiful patio as a great place for group pictures! It was a chilly evening but on a warmer night would've loved to sit outside! Good job! I recommend this place for some wonderful Mexican food! Great experience! It is hidden way a little, but keep looking, it's back there!

What happened to this place? Used to be so good and now food seems to not be as tasty and the last three times I returned the order was wrong. Too bad.....place used to be so good.

I give two stars for effort but was disappointed with the taste and quality of the food (group of four adults & two children.) Our orders came out quick but incorrect, not only once, twice! I won't be back.

For months I kept hearing about this restaurant. All I heard was how I needed to go hear. I heard this from friends, co workers, and probably even complete strangers. Ok, not complete strangers. I knew I had to try it out. To top it all off they even brewed their own beer. One Saturday morning my wife and I where determined to get here. We packed up the car loaded the kids and off we went. When we entered the restaurant that is tucked away behind the Intel building in Rio Rancho, we stood in the lobby and waited to be seated. Nobody was there to greet us. We just stood there and saw a guy who didn't even acknowledge us. Then he realized what he did and asked if we had been helps. At this point I am annoyed and then some lady came out and sat us. We were seated and the waitress seemed pretty impatient. I was looking at all the great reviews this place had on my trusty yelp app. I asked for a few more minutes and then she just disappeared. Here's what made it even worse the table next to us was a large party and their waiter was there to help them every 5 minutes and was friendly. So I continued to be annoyed. We ordered some breakfast burritos that were pretty good. Not the best I have ever had. It was early in the morning, so I didn't get to try their home brew. The waiter next to us with the large party was telling them that their head brewer used to work for Tractor Brewing. To sum it all up we left disappointed and bummed out because of the what we heard. We may give it another chance. It is worth checking out, just watch out for the service. We may have just caught them at a bad time. Cheers!

Went and had dinner last Saturday night. We love the fish tacos here and they are surprisingly good. I think they have good food but EVERY TIME I go here there is always an issue with the wait staff and with our food orders. I had to physically get up and go and search for my waiter twice. There was only 10 tables at the time and no excuse to not be attentive. They all stand around in the entrance and completely ignore customers. We sat in the patio and they were having karaoke which was pretty loud and annoying. (Just not my thing). I noticed how they have a big bar on the patio and they should use it! They could make so much money but for some reason they just can't get their business together. They should start by getting capable staff and make sure they are professional. I'm all for fun at the work place but not being dismissive and then expecting a tip. I used to really like this place but I won't be returning to spend my hard earned money and get no customer service in return.

What a great meal! I haven't been here since 2008 because I didn't like the food then but we had a group dinner for a friend moving away tonight so I went with low expectations. I was completely blown away by the food! The chips and salsa were awesome but you have to request them. I ordered tamales and they were wonderful. Everyone's food was great. I didn't try any of the beers - next time for sure and the ambience is amazing, especially the outdoor space. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the service was less than great. We had a female waiter who was very quiet and not attentive at all. It took FOREVER to get water refills and the check. They finally sent an older gentleman in to help. I'm assuming she was busy? Not sure. Anyway, we will definitely be back. Again, I can't express how good the food was!

Not happy. 1st. Need to mention that the staff was friendly and the restaurant was accommodating to serve such a large group as ours. When called about special $7.99 for pizza, and a beer and told it was available, Thursdays for lunch, then when we arrived, I was told it was not. When I asked for the "our cheeseburger and fries", the burger could have been seasoned and better cooked, the fries were tasteless from frozen potatoes. I was asked if I wanted green chili? No mention of extra cost. I said yes. Though good...I was hit with an extra $2 charge. A member of our party waited an extra half hour (past the time of everyone already eating) to get his taco plate (ordered per menu) it came out greasy to boot. We can not recommend this restaurant, until changes are made. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

I finally made a (quick) trip to Cazuela's this week after planning on doing so for quite a while. We just had a few beers, complimentary chips and salsa, and tres leches cake, so I can't really comment on the food yet. The chips seemed to be homemade and fresh, but the salsa was definitely too watery. The tres leches cake was moist but not mushy, and the serving size was enough for my wife, daughter, and me to share. We hung out in the taproom, which was a decent size and had a few TVs set up. They have nice, sturdy wooden highchairs (kinda looked like a throne), which my daughter seemed to like. All of the chairs have "Cazuela's" carved in the backrest, which I thought was a cool tough. They have a very large patio area, which was just starting to fill up as we left, and I noticed that they have a small outdoor bar. Now for the important part, the beer. They have eight beers on tap, which I thought was pretty impressive for such a small operation. The double IPA was hoppy and balanced, and on par with DIPAs from some of the other local breweries. My wife enjoyed her Mexican lager, while the cream ale was probably my least favorite of the three beers that I sampled. Long story short, I'm glad that there is yet another microbrewery within a few miles from my house and I can't wait to sample their other beers.

We stopped in for a beer one Saturday, and it was decent beer, good snacks, great bartender, we decided to come back a couple days later for Taco Tuesday. It was AWFUL. Server was new and had been poorly trained. Personally, if you are going to put a server on the floor, make sure they know what is going on. I get it - sometimes those things happen. But, seriously - don't come tell me, "She's new" and expect me to cut you a break. I paid full price, I expect 100% service. When, after one visit, I know the menu and specials better than the server, you have failed at training her. I ordered green chile fries, and she insisted that they did not carry them. I showed her that they were on the menu, and she was kind of like "hmm - I thought we didn't have any." The girl was nice, but the poor training has set her up to fail. I would bet she has already gotten so frustrated that she quit. Oh, and the food - so-so o decent at best. My rating is an average of the 4.5 for Happy Hour on Sunday, and 1.5 for dinner the following Tuesday. I will certainly give them another try, but not for awhile.

Great place! Great beer! This is now a brew house restaurant. We eat here about twice a month. The food is very good. Try the Parrilladas Nortena and a stone create ale beer.

My wife and I went with 2 of our friends to Cazuelas last night after one of our friends kept hearing about this place. We should have know something wasn't right when upon calling and asking what time they closed, an affirmative answer could not be given. They passively stated around 9:30 or 10:00. It was around 9pm when we arrived. Upon entering this not-so-fine establishment it was extremely crowded. I'm not referring to the number of people because there were only a handful of individuals in the place. It was overcrowded with seating. I understand that any eatery needs to have a lot of seating but this was a bit much. You had to squeeze between tables to get to a table to sit. The chairs were really uncomfortable too. We received our menus and a drink order was taken. Unfortunately, the beer menu was on the wall by what appeared to be a dirty makeshift bar and we were expected to place our beer order from that menu in such a badly lit environment. None of us could read the menu whatsoever and the server acted as though it was a chore for him to tell us what was on the beer menu. I give him credit for actually reading it off though. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu which again was still hard to read due to poor lighting. The server came back to the table to take our order. We all took turns with our order after which he read it back to us as any good server would do to ensure accuracy. While awaiting the arrival of our food, I took some time to look the small room in an attempt to figure out what style it was trying to achieve. I have still yet to figure that out. Several beer stills take up an enormous amount of room in the corner. Looking up, there is a ledge with what appeared to be under 100 empty and dusty beer cans that were stacked in two's. Any air flow would send that dust flying down into our food and the cans on our heads. When our food finally arrived, the server couldn't figure out what person got what item. It didn't matter because 3 of the 4 orders were entirely wrong. I asked for a wet bean, rice, and cheese burrito with extra cheese and sour cream. It came dry and had barely anything inside of it. It was about as thick as a badly made pancake. Never in my life have I see a flat burrito. Maybe it's a new thing. The server had walked away quickly after delivering our food so I asked another server who was cleaning nearby if that server was new. She stated he was not and stated that he is probably having a very bad night. She asked what was wrong and how she could help? We explained everything to her and she promptly left to get the original server who proceeded to treat us like we were the ones who messed up. The offending server argued with us and had the nerve to imply that we were wrong and he was right. In order to diffuse an escalating situation, we agreed that we wanted the items removed from our bill and we would leave. The manager came over and after explaining the situation and it was apparent that he simply didn't care about the situation by his body language and attitude. He did offer to take the food back and have it remade. I explained that due to the epidemic of cooks, servers, etc., nationwide who do things to the food in these situations to get back at the customer for complaining that we would rather just have it taken off the bill and we would go elsewhere. He scoffed at the idea of that and stated that they don't do that there to which I replied, would anybody say that they did? He didn't know what else to say and quickly left to settle up the bill for the beer. Upon walking out to get our check and pay what we owed, we asked the server to read back what he wrote down for our order, which was entirely correct. We then asked how he couldn't be to blame for 3 of the four orders being messed up. He still tried to defend himself and put blame on us but the evidence was on the order pad in his hand in his handwriting. The bill came to just over $18.00. We handed the manager a $20.00 bill and left but not before I got the owners name. So, since we did get the beer I can tell you that it was okay. It wasn't the best but certainly wasn't the worst. I had ordered the Acapulco Gold. Perhaps the food there is as good as what others have said. Perhaps the beer there is good. Unfortunately for this business, none of us will return there again due to such a poor experience. We weren't rude at all and in fact really nice about the situation. We would have stayed and allowed them to make amends but the attitude of the server and manager was uncalled for and not worth us trying to salvage the meal.

Food was good. Beer was even better. I like that this microbrew had the option of decent food to go with their beer. The atmosphere was also really nice. Will return!

Food was ok but the tacos for Taco Tuesday were bland and didn't have much flavor. But at $1 a taco you can't complain too much. Beer is pretty good. Service was very, very poor.

Cazuelas is a new hidden gem I found out in Rio Rancho this place has 2 of my most favorite things craft beer and Mexican food! If your looking for NEW Mexican food this isn't your spot but if your looking for Mexican food then it is. This place has a wide selection of Mariscos, Enchiladas, Fajitas and Chalupas. They also brew there own beer in house which consist of ales, ipas, mexican lagers and a cream ale which I missed out on.

  • Crystal C.

This was actually pretty good. The food was very flavorful so not true Mexican ( as Mexican is bland) it was more Tex-Mex. I ordered the Beef Chimichanga with red chili sauce which was good. My boyfriend ordered the tamales - he said they were good. The queso was spicey but tasty. The beers were very flavorful and robust!! The wait staff was overly friendly. There was only a couple of customers in the restaurant so more wait staff than customers. We'll be back!!

The great news is that the owner is brewing his own beer. The bad news is that they no longer carry my favorite beer, Bud light lime. Two sad faces! Oh well....we had a good run.

went for mexican and microbrew............( win-win, LOL ) carne was good, red was not hot, good flavor......... beans and rice , pretty standard.......... mexican lager , very good, stone beer ( not stone brewery, made with hot stones in wort (SP?) good.......... location is kind of weird, next to batting cage north of Intel.............. very nice and friendly staff ( although getting referred to as "boss" every few minutes was kind of bothersome , LOL )

Let me first say that we didn't sample any food (except chips and salsa). My wife and I are beer nuts, and we LOVED this restaurant. We had their beer flight (only $7!), and out of the 7 beers we tasted, we only picked one we wouldn't have done a full pint for. The beers are the best we've tasted in quite a while. It's a shame that the restaurant isn't known more for their excellent beers (than their food). The ambiance isn't our favorite (hence the 4 star rating versus 5), but the beer makes up for it. The wait staff is fantastic (and incredibly hard working). The outside patio looks inviting, but not in the 30+ mph winds we experienced the day we visited. We would come back here in a heartbeat.

The food was great, the beer was better, and the service is unbeatable. I don't think I've ever had better service at a restaurant. If you love food and beer, you definitely shouldn't pass this spot up.

Beer is very good--surprisingly so! Food, is Mexican, not NEW Mexican, so chile is more sauce-like--not bad, but certainly not outstanding either. Portions were small. Chile Rellanos were tiny. Good service!

Super friendly, great food, nice atmosphere, and they just opened a microbrewery. I did not heed the warnings that the chile was hot, if you ordered it that way, and well ... it was hot. In a good way. Had the gordita and glad I ordered a chile relleno on the side, it was a bit small but very tasty.

Tried the IPA & the RED, both excellent beer choices. Chile relleno with green chile sauce was very good. Service friendly & prompt. Only concern was that there was flies in the dining room...

All the good reviews are for the beer which people say is great. But there food sucked!!! Who can mess up tortilla chip open a bag right. This place makes there own which were stale and had no absolutely no salt on. The steak and Enchiladas was made with very flat cut piece of rump roast which was over cooked. I asked for medium rare it was well done on one side and burnt on the other. But the staff insisted it was medium rare. There was dry no juice, none. After they finely took it back and made another cheap peace of beef my enchiladas and side dishes were cold they didn't even place the dish under a heating lamp to keep it warm. My wife hated her meal so much that we left and went to a fast food chain named after a clown.

Our first visit here and was very disappointed. The service was great but otherwise not so. We needed to request chips and salsa (free). The salsa was good but with stone cold mediocre chips. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp which were overdone and with no trace of the Mexican cheese which was supposed to be part of the dish. The side of rice was totally without flavor. The salad side while fresh also had no flavor nor was there any salt or pepper on the table. The shrimp fajitas were good but with just grilled onions and almost nothing else. The Canadian Ale was good though I doubt it was made on site. The owners were too busy with other business to be active and dealing with the customers. Too bad as we were expecting much better.

Not at all impressed. The salsa was flavorless liquid, and the guacamole was little more than avocado paste. The rice tasted like dish soap. The trip was saved by an outstanding margarita along with some delicious carne adovado.

This place was awesome! Never would have guessed from looking at the outside. It's a real hole in the wall. The tortillas were handmade and fresh...at least it tasted that way. Service was fast and friendly. The Sopapillas were delicious. Oh, and the fried ice cream is to die for!!! I wish I lived in New Mexico just so I could visit this place more often.

Have enjoyed the food at Cazuela's since they were just a hole in the wall years ago. The new taproom with brewed-on-site microbrews is excellent. Great patio for summertime. BUT the wait staff is slow and disorganized. Last two times we were there (both in March 2013), we waited, and waited, and waited. Today we had surly service from a waitress (slow, forgot one of the meals that was ordered, had to request silverware, had to request salsa - which we never got). And the whole time she acted as though we were the problem. During all of this waiting, another waitress was just sitting at the bar, instead of helping out. Really disappointing, especially since we have been going to this place for so many years. Wake up and take care of your customers in a timely way!

The food is usually very consistent in quality and also very delicious. They have great chile, salsa, and awesome tacos. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. The service most of the time needs help and more training. It all depends on who you get. Get one that has been there a long time and who knows the menu and can answer your questions. Pricing is a little high.

Stopped by here for lunch today on the spur of the moment. Haven't been here for quite awhile. Today I was really happy with the menu and the food. I just ordered some chicken tacos, but wow, the flavor was so great . . . and this place serves Mexican, as well as New Mexican food. I'm a California girl and have really been missing my rice and beans since we moved here 5 years ago! The lightly fried tortillas were golden brown and so tasty with the shredded meat, finely shredded lettuce and finely chopped tomatoes. Something as simple as a Taco was suddenly made new again. My husband had the Menudo, which he said was great once again. He'll come by and pick some up to go from time to time. Didn't sample the beer today because we had more errands to run . . . but next time for sure. There's only one negative, and that is the very slow service. Their chips and salsa are superb though, so just come prepared to munch and wait. It's an out of the way little spot, but so very worth the effort to find it.

Really good Mexican food, NOT new Mex. The beans are just like my abuela made. I think this is the only place in ABQ area that still makes the tortillas, corn and flour, fresh, on site. Only wish they had margaritas!

Not my favorite by any means, but consistently good food. Used to be a little putt-putt course with batting cages where I spent many an elementary birthday party. Who woulda thunk years later I'd still be partying there, but with margaritas instead of juiceboxes. Full bar and TV's to occupy you while you gorge on chips and salsa, speaking of which, is very good. I am from the school of though that a New Mexican restaurant is only as good as its salsa, and this place has some pretty good stuff! I have eaten there on several occasions and have never been disappointed, but have never been blown away, either. The red chile and green chile is good, not great. Enchiladas are also in that same category. Pretty packed on friday and saturday nights, great place to start with margaritas and a dinner before going elsewhere to get hammered. Plus, the staff is always very courteous and attentive. Definitely a big plus. Although there are some tastier New Mexican restaurants in Albuquerque, this is the best bet for Rio Rancho!

Recommended by wife unit's co-worker concerning huevos ranceros....was not disappointed at the least, and in fact the best I have tasted in a long time. Sauce tasted homemade; salsa was to die for (took some home to put on grilled pork chops); service was awesome. Planning on going back for fish tacos.

Didn't really know what to expect with this place, but we were pleasantly suprised. We ended up sitting at the bar since the dining room was closed for a special event, we recieved quick and friendly service. I had a green chile cheeseburger, medium well, which was pretty good. I also had the porter, also very good. I will definitely return for another round.

Service: Fair Food: Not to my liking Price: $$ Establishment: Nice I ordered the Barbacoa burrito ALOT of fat and the tortilla was hard. I will never eat at this establishment again. I don't want to even go into the price for this madness. Maybe other dishes are better, one will never know I refuse to waste anymore of my hard earned money here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
